Your board has really made me want to try free motion quilting. Is this done with your regular sewing machine? Where and how would you suggest I start?

    Thank you!

I started out yes on a DSM, and a hopping foot, used practice pieces before I tried a quilt. If you throat space is small you make have difficulty with a larger project.

If you go up to the search feature and search free motion quilting, you will find tons of information that might help you. If you are using a domestic machine this site has really good info.

I use my regular size Bernina Sewing Machine. I have a BSR Foot but all you need to do is pull out your open toe "embroidery" foot and drop the feed dogs.

Read all you can about it and then Practice! Practice! and Practice some more. Don't be too hard on yourself. I agree with searching on this sight for the topic. Lots of good, free advice here.

I have a Bernina and BSR also. It's the only way I FMQ until I finally got the longarm. I would definitely recommend it.

Lots of good advice, add some music, and be sure to relax, and stop form time to time to stretch to avoid stiffness or unnecessary pain. AND IMPORTANTLY..... have fun!!!

LOL! Thank you so much for the encouragement. I'm glad you told me to relax and enjoy. It's not fun if you have to PUSH yourself to do it. I WILL look up the site you suggested.

    I Love this Board!
