I don't know how widespread Freecycle is where you live, but I've just requested and received (within 12 hours) a small stash of fabric as well as a never-been-used, standing quilt frame! This kind:

I belong to freecycle where I live. I got a bread machine from it. I never see any fabrics or sewing items to give, but I see many adds asking for them.

That's funny. I gave away a bread machine through Freecycle ;-)

I love Freecycle. I have given away many things. I have put out a couple of requests but none have been fulfilled. I love that people will come and get the most random things!

Cincinnati area is divided into sections to keep the groups manageable. I have found a quilter through Freecycle who saves and gives me all her fabric scraps. Every few months I pick up a bag of some wonderful fabrics and have made a number of quilt from her scraps alone.

Everyone should check out Freecycle and if possible, give thing you don't use any more. The things you would throw in the garbage would go to the landfill, and they just might be something someone else could use. The concept is to lessen the amount of things going to the landfill.

Help save our planet for future generations!

I have never found anything I need either, but have given a lot away----there are always ISO requests for fabric and sewing machines!

I belong to freecycle too. Only one time have I gotten fabric from there. I am amazed at some of the stuff that people try to give away and that folks take.
