Yes, if they ask for my opinion.

I would be honest, but I have bought what I consider "ugly" because I know it will be perfect for something I am making for someone else. For instance, my mother loves anything smothered in roses in pinks and mauves...not my thing at all but I have recently purchased yards of the stuff. Guessing it's going straight to Mum when it's done.

I'm honest, but if they love it they will buy it anyway.

A true friend will always give an honest answer, whether it be positive or negative. I always say if I don't like something; and agree to disagree.

I would tell a friend if they were thinking about an article of clothing that it didn't look good on them, but all of us have different opinions about what's ugly and what's not, so I would say you gave her your honest opinion but she obviously didn't think it was so ugly. My personal opinion here.

So, when you're shopping with friends, do you give an honest opinion when they ask you what you think about it? Or do you just say "Oh, that's lovely." and move on with pawing through the bolts?
My SIL (my closest quilting buddy) and I have completely different tastes in fabrics and blocks. I just try to look at fabric from her point of view and she does the same for me. If I really don't like it at all I tell her and I hope she does the same for me!!

I love ugly fabrics, but I bet you already knew that.
