Frixion saves the applique!
I needed to fuse a white fabric dove onto a 45' x 60' background. To give the dove definition, its wings had to be emroidered, in this case satin stitched by machine. If I marked the white fabric with a water soluble pen, fusing the dove with the hot iron would make the marking permanent, which was not acceptable. The problem was solved when I remembered that Frixion pen marks disappear when they are heated, but reappear when they are cooled.
I drew the necessary markings on the dove, heat transferred it to the background fabric, a process that did make the marks disappear. Then I folded the fabric and put it in the freezer for about an hour and lo and behold, the marks I needed were back so that I could machine applique and embroider to my heart's content. I pressed the whole piece again, and any stray marks disappeared. I'm not worried about the marks coming back. Even if they do, I will just iron them away again! froggyintexas
