ITA ... they blocked vision to reading the ruler.
Exactly why the clear medical tape (Curad or other brands) is a good option.

I also found that the emery/sandpaper dots would catch on the fabric, and made it harder to slide the ruler into place when you were just doing those micro-adjustments for precise cutting.

When I first started quilting, I happened to buy a 24"x6" Olfa Frosted ruler. Then I saw on this forum that you should always use the same brand rulers so I have been adding to my collection one at a time and I have no problems with the rulers slipping. Love my Olfa's!!!!

I would have to agree with the few who have tried them and didn't care for them. I had two of them and gave them to my quilt guild for their annual auction. I couldn't get used to not having a clear measurement. It was hard for me to read the lines and numbers. I guess to each his own!

That was how I was shown years ago....and walk your spider fingers along that long ruler as you cut so that your fingers are parallel to rotary cutter.......and cut at medium speed...

I use it and it's awesome. Nothing slips, and it's a very inexpensive solution.
What a fantastic idea! Thanks so much.

I use the guide line strips on my rulers. They are clear and work great.

I'm wondering what brand it was that those who had trouble with, or didn't like, the frosted ones tried. Olfa Frosted Advantage, for example, does not come with any backing that needs to be removed, nor does the 'frosting' blur the clarity of the ruler in any way. What other brands are frosted?

Having some fingers off the ruler really works for me. The smaller the ruler, the more fingers are "over the edge". Just keep the edge on which you're cutting free of fingers. LOL
