Those are some great ideas! Of course the boss would shoot us if we ordered any more fabric than we already do -- so inviting a customer to help would be out of the question! LOL! Having a red carpet show and tell sounds like a lot of fun!

We have a 5th Saturday sale -- whenever there are 5 Saturdays in a month, all fabric on the bolt is 30% off.

Fat Quarter Friday -- on the first Friday of each month, all fat quarters are 30% off (includes bundles and FQ's cut from the bolt).

Row By Row Experience -- is a national event, kinda like a shop hop. Every participating shop provides a free pattern for a 36" row, July through September. If someone is the first to bring a completed quilt with at least 8 rows, they win a prize. If the store's row is in the quilt, they win 2 prizes.

And Shop Hops are a lot of fun! Ours is a 500 mile route with 13 shops participating, with prizes and games, and a free pattern at every shop.

Ours has a class once a month. They offer a 10% discount on fabric purchased for the quilt project. They also have a punch card that when you fill up the punch card you get a yard of free fabric. However I love the things your shop does.

If I was a shop owner, I would prefer to have food and beverages kept far far away from the fsbrics.

I think your very lucky to have a LQS that cares about the customers enough to do these enticing things, although of course they are doing it for the sales it's still a win win for everyone. I would certainly participate in some or all of these days!

First bolt --- first bolt to be cut from that day is "bolt of the day" and has a certain percentage off.

mlt150: Do you go to Threads of Time in Danville? Love them and their retreat center. I go usually once a month for 3-4 days.

I know which LQS you are talking about! As I read the list, I kept saying to myself "TOT does that!" Then I saw the name and looked at the pic and your info and said "I know her!" Are you going to be at Play Day at the end of the month? Have missed seeing everyone.

I went to a quilt shop one time where they drew quilt blocks on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk..it was just a fun way to approach the building..got you in the mood!
Another quilt shop had a huge glass jar by the checkout and they gave away quilt candies..they were actually fabric scraps rolled up like hard candies..the ones with paper covers with the ends twisted...great way for them to get rid of their small scraps and the ladies loved it!
