I would use fall colors and neutrals, but not a print that has leaves and acorns or pumpkins on it. Just stick to textures and non-descriptive prints. This way they could use it anywhere any time of the year.

I agree with autumn between those two choices, but I'd prefer a WINTER themed quilt with snow, snow sports, snowmen, mittens, beautiful pine trees with snow on them, snow/animal scenes.

That's cuz I never get around to making one for myself but hope to someday. Then you can use it for Christmas and long after, depending on where you live...for us, that would be Nov. through March at least...

But Christmas stuff--like some mentioned...a lot of Americans have storage bins already "full of Christmas decorations"--besides the fact that some may not want the religious aspect. While most do celebrate Christmas or some variant of it, I believe most people have more Christmas decorations than autumn/fall/Thanksgiving...probably.

A non-season quilt would be my suggestion.. This way the quilt could be used year round. If you need a suggestion between the two seasons, then I suggest Fall as it covers several months, rather than December.

If you're doing a quilt, I think whatever pattern/fabrics you have. If a wall hanging/tablerunner/etc. then I'd go for the autumn. I love the newer fabrics that have more purple and burgundy in the leaves. I do like the reversible idea too... maybe autumn on one side and flowers on the other, so it could be year round.

I'd say autumn---------that's several months long

Christmas is just only about a month or so.

    BUT----------almost everyone loves Christmas.

And yes christmas is a religous theme, so is Easter.

If it is for a fund raiser you want the most ammount of people to participate. I would be much more inclined to buy tickets for a general all purpose quilt rather than one that has a relgious theme and only useful at certain times of the year.
    peace

    This is a good point.
    would be a great choice
There are a lot of patterns that can be classed as winter / seasonal without being religious, and you can use colors like icy blue and white with gold and/or silver. There's also the mitten direction, which can be autumn or winter.
A snowy winter theme would be seasonal or Christmasy

is there a way you could do 1 side in fall colors and the other Christmas? I like things I can use for a longer time, and fast - just have a nice fall colored quilt (or runner, or candlemat etc) that I can flip over as part of Christmas. Fall into winter is nice too - leaves on one side and snowflakes on the other. sharet

I'd say Autumn or do winter not Christmas. Snow people and outdoor things.
