When I learned about this, it was called furling. We were making 4-patches for a Jacob's Ladder. I thought it was a good idea, but one of our members, a long time quilt teacher and owner of a shop, said she was afraid the seam would pop open. I don't think it would if you don't cut off those threads. I saw one video on here that showed cutting off the loose threads on both sides. I would never do that.
And I seldom have to loosen threads. I just twist the two seams and they pop open. So fun.

I knew what you were talking about, but never knew its proper name. I think I'll use it at my next quilting meeting and see if anyone else knows what I'm talking about. LOL! It's a great group, and always willing to learn.

Hey Peckish thanks for the Bonnie Hunter reference. I'm a big Bonnie Fan and had never seen this. Guess I need to go to her site and read ALL her tips. I'm almost to the end of making 535 4-patch blocks. It would have helped to know this FIRST. LOL live and learn I guess.
