Is Fusible Batting Tape the same as Stitch Witchery or even iron on interfacing? I am interested in using something like this, but know nothing about it.

I'm not sure if it resembles either of the two products you mention - I just use a wide zig zag to join batting, using my stitch in the ditch foot to butt the pieces together.

It's more like iron on interfacing. Never have used it. Just butt the edges together and sew together with a zig zag stitch. I'm thinking you would be more happy sewing the batting together.

It is just lightweight fusible interfacing cut about 2" wide. I use it if I have a couple long straight pieces to put together. Usually put on both sides of the seam. Just be sure your batting can handle the heat of the iron

Okay, I think I will just sew the batting pieces together. I have done that before and I know it works. Hadn't thought about my batting being able to handle heat from an iron. Thanks.

I use it for batting. I like it better then sewing batting. I think is it more like fusible interfacing.

Sometimes when I use that tape I end up with a tiny gap between the edges of the batting. Now I usually just use a glue stick with a tiny overlap of the batting edges.

I have used the tape and also bought fusible interfacing and cut it in 2 inch strips to iron on.

Dina, I have a bolt of fusible lightweight interfacing I bought at JAF when I was making t-shirt quilts for others. I just cut 1.5" strips when I butt my batting pieces together. It works only on cotton batting. I do both sides. It works very well and your can't feel any zig zag stitching.

I have purchased fusible knitted lightweight interfacing and cut in into 2 inch strips for use in joining batting. It is far less expensive than buying it ready cut. I prefer it to zig zagging the edges because it can show as a dimple on the front if the join falls in the wrong place.
