    We went to an estate sale today held as a garage sale- I never saw anything like it in my life - things were bought and moved out so fast, and within an hour most was gone;

    Our big buy was a Serger sewing machine with oodles of cones of thread, a heavy duty one used in a factory to sew undergarments for women; $150!!! Then we got the Singer sewing machine in a cabinet which is about 45 years old for $25(complete with all the gadgets immaginable for a sewing machine) - and it works fine too. A record player and radio combo with record cabinet and filled with records dating back to the '50s! One is Elvis' and many are the good country singers back when music was music to the ears. All that for $15! The family just wanted the house emptied; wow! I got 2 huge garbage bags of undergarment or slippery fabric which was thrown in on the sewing machines purchases, and talk about bags of trim and lace, ruffles, and elastic. We need to go back with a trailer and pick up the serger - too big to put in our SUV - and still one more big box of fabric there; I only found two small pieces so far that was 100% cotton - boo-hoo; but quite some buys!!!

    Sounds like (no pun intended) you got a great haul today. Enjoy listening to your records while you sew and sort thru your fabrics. Great job.

    that is the good thing about estate sales, the people running it have nothing invested so they just want it gone. Not like if you were selling your own stuff, you would be saying, I can't let it go for $5, I paid $75 for it.
    Having dealt with my dad's "estate" (2 BR apt) I can't even imagine dealing with a housefull of stuff.

    Congrats on your finds!!

    Great finds! That's another good thing about estate sales - sometimes you hit a bonanza. But sometimes, not, bummer. We all have to keep on trying!!

    I went to an estate sale last weekend in Las Vegas and they wanted "premium" prices on most of everything they were selling - so disappointing!!!
