I always go with Kona bright solids for my crib quilts.
Green, purple, orange,red, and yellow.
You can do a string quilt and use a lot of bright children prints in the above mentioned colors if you have them in your stash.
I stay away from pinks and blues.

Taiboo, What you have drawn up is perfect I think. If you are making the quilt, then do it how you want it. If the other mothers want something different then let them make another one themselves. The baby will love the bright colors as I am sure the teacher will. Even if the children just drew around their hand & put there name inside would be cute. You are making it so you decide. Can't wait to see your quilt finished.
