I went in and asked at ours too and they had no clue! It's the only reason I've ever gone in there. Don't really like WM's.

Our WM only has fat quarters...and not very nice selection. I keep watching and waiting. They are newly redecorated and very clean.

Walmart here had some of those bolts. The fabric was very thin and mostly rayon/cotton. I couldn't think of anything to make from it quilting wise so I bought several bolts to use for tabletop to floor cloths for various occasions for local town community room.

One of my local Walmart's carries the $5 bolts, but you have to be careful because some of it is quite thin.

You might want to check the bolt to make sure it's all usable. The bolts are seconds (that's why they're that cheap) and may have streaks where the dye missed or other flaws. I was in WalMart yesterday and a lady wanted one of these bolts and it had streaks all through it where the dye missed.

Our local Walmart had couple of tables also, but there was nothing I could use, was cheap and looked cheap.

I have found that various woven fabrics will work for simple projects like lap robes or drag-around-quilts for kids.

Cheap fabric might be good for the dog or cat bed, or one of those projects where you rip strips to wrap around a cable and weave into a basket, or the strip rugs that you braid. I'd have to see it, but given my WallyWorld eliminated almost all of the craft/fabric section, I doubt if ours will carry it.

My Wal Mart has been selling these 5 yd pieces but there is nothing there that I would use in a quilt.

Went to a Walmart about 1/2 hour away that is the onlyh one within 50 miles that still has a fabric dept. They Christmas fabric that I bought 2 weeks ago was on sale for 2.44 a yard, and it is really nice. I originally paid 5.00 a yard. They have a huge collection and had some boxes sitting on the cutting table. I took a peek and it was a new shipment of fabric that wasn't out yet. They haven't heard if the fabric dept. will be closing or not. So I will just keep buying until they aren't.
