Possibly a frilly little mug rug for your mother. May be 2 for when she has a friend over for coffee/tea. Her own special placemat in her favorite color. Or just work on scrappies. Just sew strips of fabric with a specific color strip down the middle. Play with your feet to become better familiar with their functions and different stitches. Maybe do some handwork. One of my go bags is embroidering labels that will be tucked into pockets. You could work on hexies or yo yos. check out the different videos on YouTube. Sew many videos. Work on a sampler. I have some blocks not so great turnouts and that goes into the scrappy sampler and not so sure how big it will be. Check your local PBS station for the sewing shows. In a few minutes our local starts and runs for 2 12 hours.

Seek out your local Linus chapter and make them some quilts. It will help get rid of the fabrics in your stash that you probably will not use and make you some new quilting friends at the same time.

As a new quilter the block of the month and mystery train rides here on The Quilting Board have been very motivating. The next train ride is scheduled for late August.

Another welcome here, to the board and back to quilting in general. There are lots of great ideas here but no one has mentioned what I think is the obvious. My stash always inspires me. And you say that you have kept your stash so I would go into your stash and start by petting the fabric. There is something so fun about that for me. I think if you find one fabric in your stash that you love it will inspire you to pull a few more to go with it. Then I look at them together and decide what they sort of say they want to become. Do you enjoy english paper piecing? You could get some papers and start a small project that you could take with you when you are waiting at the doctor or dentist office and do it whereever and whenever the mood strikes. Or like other's have said get some ideas online or in a magazine that inspire you. Either way just start and I know you will soon be as obsessed as the rest of us. Welcome to the club!!!

Welcome to the board. I had a simular experience a few years ago with my MIL. It took all my time and energy to take care of her and there wasn't much time for anythingelse. But, I got back into the spirit of things not too long afterward. I started by looking at all my quilting magizines for inspiration. Then I went and looked at fabrics. (even though I have a ton of them myself) I didn't buy anything. But, there is just something about looking and touching the new fabrics. By that time, I knew just what I wanted to make and started pulling fabrics from my own stash. Then I started sewing. Before you knew it...... I had a ton of UFO's. Now, I'm trying to finish them all up and get on to something new again. Have fun!!!!! Good luck!

I have joined in the monthly Mug Rug swap here on the board started by Elisabrat. It has a different theme each month, which keeps the mind hopping. I am having fun and get a lot of great ideas from watching the thread to see what others have come up with. You can find it by going to the home page and just scrolling the list. There is also Mini Quilts, block of the month, etc. that might spark your interest.

Welcome back gillyo. I love to find a local quilt show. Wandering through those, looking a quilts, going through vendor booths really motivates me to get home and start creating! I especially love to look at tools! I am in Idaho. We have a small show going right now in Star, another coming up in Kuna and a bigger one in Boise. They are all inspirational. Try to find a Quilt Dhow!!!!

I find quilting magazines to be great inspiration for me, then taking a stroll through my stash to see what I need to make the quilts I've picked out. You'll get there, maybe making some simple placemats or a table runner, even a small wall hanging, Christmas is just around the corner, think about gifts.
