    Put it away for a while and work on something else, smaller maybe- table runners, mug rugs, something. Go back to it later and perhaps you'll be able to get it straightened out and may find some more fab. like what you are short of. Hugs and sorry for your problems, tell daughter to wait a while.     Wow this is a Beautiful Quilt and I'm sure she will love it.
    I was thinking that a little dab of permanent fabric glue
    put right under that nick that you said you had might just do the trick. I also agree with the other lady's ideal of making your binding with some of the colors that was used in the quilt.
    Regardless it's a Beautiful Quilt. :D
