Getting more than frustrated. What to do about sewing with bonding fabric.

Maybe I need to try a different needle.... thinner??? thicker??? I really don't like this stuff. I will never use it again.

Are you sure you used steam a seam lite? I use it all the time and love it. I just bought a huge box of it. I don't have trouble with it at all. I made a whole quilt where I satin stitched around everything without problems. The needle had a little bit of gumming up after hours of sewing but still sewed fine.
Try a different needle or call the manufacturer. If it is stem a seam you should be able to sew thru it just fine. It is the only brand I use.

I would try a larger needle,( for the thread problem) I always have to clean my needle often, I use nail polish remover.

A few Years ago steam a seam had problems with their product and actually did not sell it for over a year. They finally came out with the new steam a seam 2 lite. It was a glue problem. They fixed it with the new product. How old is your steam a seam? you also need to be using a sharp, large eye needle

Sorry you're having such trouble. I hate that stuff and switched to Pelon 805 (Wonder Under) a very long time ago because Steam-a-Seam (in all its varieties) was way too much trouble to use and always put me in a horrible mood. Rubbing alcohol was the only thing that worked for me that didn't smell (nail polish remover) or was caustic (goo gone). Good luck.

That product should not react that way. I would first try Steaming my blocks again, maybe without steam and a little more heat. It sounds like maybe the adhesive didn't completely set. (Try it on a different piece or block) Then I would go back to where I purchased it and explain what happened. Perhaps it was on the bolt too long.

I use a Metafill needle. Joann's has them. It works for me.

it won't solve the problem which I think is the steam a seam2, being too thick and glue too strong.

I thought it would be so much fun to work on a few Row-by-Rows. Many patterns are so fussy and they suggested I use a bonding fabric..... steam-a-seam 2-lite.
But I'm stitching around the edges and the bonding glue is making my needle sticky, breaking the thread every few inches.
I've tried wiping the needle down with rubbing alcohol but I can't do that every few inches!! Well, I could but I don't want to. That's like every 2-3 minutes of sewing.
Do any of you have any suggestions?? I know now why I applique and not stitch with this stuff.... Argh!!
