Default A Giant Thank You to the Quilting Forum

A few months ago 9 children aged two and a half to sixteen years of age, were removed for legal reasons and because of their parents, from their home and disbursed into foster homes in my area. Four of them have received my dolls for children in need of comfort and there will be two more delivered Sunday. Beacause the story in part was shown with a picture of dolls 110 through 113, two quilters responded and now each of those nine children will be receiving a quilt to show the love and caring of people in their world. One lady is going to try to get 8 quilts done. The other is sending one to the 5 year old when she returns from vacation.

These kids were never allowed toys, nor to socialize with other children. The only food they got to eat was what was considered sacred. no snacks. They had to cover their hair and wear long dresses, etc. They were told the world would come to an end last October. There are rumors of inapprpriate behavior on behalf of one parent and two in allowing such to happen to their children. Nothing confirmed but lots going on in the court system. At any rate the kids are split up, but do get to visit each other (Not the parents) from time to time, so that helps.

I just wanted to say how great the love and caring for these kids is, and thank the two helping with the quilts for them. You know who you are. Thanks a million. I know those kids will treasure those quilts for all their life. Thanks again on their behalf. I am preparing two more dolls to go out next sunday, so the 6 youngest will have a doll to comfort them and the quilts will follow.

What a sad situation. Kudos to you all who are adding a little bit of "comfort".

I did not read the other post but I do make quilts for charity often........so, I have a scrapy quilt that measures 52 x 70 (flower backing)...I will gladly donate to one of the little girls. It is all done and waiting to be mailed. Let me know where you would like me to mail it. I will send you a PM.

The parents are so digusting to do this and to allow it to happen. So many stories of this. I hope there is a special place for all of those who treat kids like this and worse. So glad there are some good people in the world.

God bless you and all the others on the board who are helping to bring a little comfort to these children. I will include them in my prayers.

Me, too. What was it Ghandi said about how we treeat the least of us? It's the truth & people like these parents should be strung up by the fingernails. I'm sorry... mistreatment of vulnerable souls just really rankles me.

guess things are in and out of the courts over the past few months, and will be glad for the day when things are proven or disproved, and no more court for the kids to be concerned over. Just hope they are kept in homes where life is normal and happy and where kids get the help they need to adjust to a different world than that in which they were being raised. Thank for the replies.

I too, missed the original story of these poor kids. Wordpaintervs, PM me if you still need a quilt or two. I have one here that would work for a boy, and a couple pink ones for a girl of any age. I try to have quilts on hand for when the need arises. I would love to help you out.
