thanks to everyone! practicing on an old tshirt for the iron-on is a good idea. I think I will avoid the "questionable" blocks and quilt them separately.

Woody - I'm not sure why boy scouts and girl scouts are separate here. I can see pros and cons to it.
Buslady - thanks for the offer, but I have what I need for the backing and I'll be starting quilting soon. Sounds like cute fabric.
