Default Glue Basting, Ironing + table top

Next baby quilt will be glue basted. Can't wait!!! Looked at lots of You Tubes, read lots of posts here and many mention ironing to dry the glue. Q is...what about protecting the table top or don't you use a hot iron.\?

The batting will protect the surface. All you need is warm iron to set the glue. A pass with the iron on both sides is all you need.

Please, don't iron on the table top with a hot iron.

You can take the sandwich to the ironing board to iron. It's also easy to make a large board. with a cut of plywood. I use 24x48 piece covered with insul-brite and the silver ironing fabric.

You can let it air dry overnight but ironing also helps smooth out the sandwich as it dries the glue. I put a large piece of cardboard on my table and iron that way.

I do that too, and then I just let it dry overnight to make sure sure it is completely dry, I bought some fusible batting when Connecting Threads had a batting sale. Have never used it before, am excited to try it.
