You don't have to get a big machine, ask everyone about the frames you can put your machine on and use.I can't recall what it is.

Mid-arm Brother 1500 S can be had for $599.00 online. That is all I could afford and I love it!

oh my goodness, if it's a domestic machine and not a long arm one, try to at least get one with a 9 inch throat space. You will be happier. I have 6 and wish for 9.

I am howling outloud just picturing this conversation. Sounds like how my husb. would have reacted. You have a great guy & thankfully he has a very reasonable wife.

Believe it or not in less than 8 days both where returned to me and beautifully done.
When my hubby seen them he said hey didn't you make them. Told him yes but sent them to someone else to quilt for me.

He couldn't understand why told him #1 I can't quilt worth S$%^. and besides that I don't have a Longarm machine to quilt with.

He asked what did you pay told him total for Both tops where quilted for $88 which even included postage. I used the money I made on my garage sale to send them.
well have probably have another 6 or so tops that still need quilted LOL!! He said hell, save the money.(didn't tell him it would take me a very long time to save enough to have the othrs all quilted) I'll get you the machine you need for your birthday next month.

Since I don't know what kind of machine it is You can take the credit card and pick one out yourself. The kids asked what you wanted so I'll just have them chip in for it and it will be from everyone.

oH man if I was only a horrible greedy woman I would have grabbed that card and did a road trip to find one LOL!!! instead I just started laughing.

He didn't think it was too fuuny till I told him what a Long arm costs.and that I'd need a room added on for it to fit in. I wish I would of had my camera to share a picture of the face on the man. Princeless!!! LOL!!

needless to say I won't be getting one for my birthday. He looked at me and said MAybe we can get togther and pay to have a couple more of your quilt tops quilted. turned around and walked away.
    Gotta love him

I'm fortunate to have a basement with a section at the far end which I've been allowed to take over as my quilting center. It used to have the ping pong table in the area (which took up most of the room). So my DH had the same thought as your husband regarding sending quilts out to be quilted since I had two done be a lady who lives way too close to me! So he got me a mid-size machine which sits on a New Joy quilting frame. It's not the most expensive or fancy set up, but I can now to basic, very NON-professional quilting on it. Nothing fance.
DH started talking about the big fancy machines and I warned him that he'd have to take out a second mortgage first and I would never realy want to "be able to quilt" for others! Told him that this human would still have to operate the machine...(that was before the computerized ones hit the market....that one I do want! )

Could you PM me the info on the LA quilter also? My 8 year old great niece is working on her second quilt, twin sized to fit on her bed. We tied her first quilt which was baby quilt size. I would love to get this one quilted for her for Christmas or her birthday, depending on when she gets it done.

    Thank you!
