Just acquired this pre 1950 sewing machine. Looking for a manual. Does anyone know anything about these machines??? Thanks in advance for any information you may have.

You might try posting a free ad for your request on

    http://sewingwishlist.com/

be sure to check it periodically,
although you should receive an e-mail when someone has something to offer.....either a manual or where to find a copy.

You might try looking all over (including on the bottom of the machine) for another name. I think the Good Housekeeper machines were just branded by the Good Housekeeping magazine but were made by other manufacturers, such as Brother. Also if you post a picture someone might recognize it. Good luck with the machine.

A lot of common machines were re-branded with special names. You might check out pictures of the Singer 301 to see if your machine is that one. If it is, you have a real gem!

If it's a re-branded Singer model 301, you have a real gem there!

How can I tell if it's a rebranded Singer?

I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that Singer put its own name on everything, so nothing was rebranded. I'd like to learn if that wasn't the case?
