Very thoughtful of you to do this. Thousands of people visit here for our Fiddlers' Jamboree & Craft festival in July. There are two great LQS with a nice variety of fabrics & reasonable prices.

If you are in the Charlotte, NC area then Mary Jo's in Gastonia is a must. Its a short drive and is well worth it. Long Creek Mills is also in the same area as Mary Jo's and they have great thread. In South Charlotte there is QBee Quilts on Hwy 49

In Austin and the surrounding areas, we have quite a few shops. I'm sure I'm going to miss some of them. We have Austin Sew and Vac in Round Rock, Poppy Quilt and Sew in Georgetown, The Quilt Store, Honeybee quilts, Sew Much More, The Stitch Lab, and Ready To Sew in Austin as well as more probably that I haven't gotten out to yet. A short drive to New Braunfels takes you to The Quilt Haus. On top of all those, we have multiple locations of Joann Fabrics, Hancock Fabrics and Hobby Lobby all of which carry Fabric in stock. We also have a few Walmart stores that still carry fabric at discount prices. One is in Round Rock, one in Cedar Park and one in Georgetown that I know of.

I googled: quilt shops in "my city" and this is what i found

    http://www.wrbqinc.com/nc.php

I am sure that there are others in all these areas.

There is a LQS in the Franklin Square Shopping Center near Shoe Carnival/Old Navy/Kohl's, sorry I don't know the name, but it is less than 1 mile from Mary Jo's.

We also have Michaels and Hobby Lobby

another suggestion is contact someone on the board here that is near your destination and/or along your route.

Anywhere there is a County Register published, they have LOTS of stores listed in their state--great resource!

In Jacksonville NC, we have 3. All about Quilting on Henderson Ext., The cotton patch on Hwy 17 and Country Collection on Hwy 17. We also have Hancock's and Michael's. Does that help?

Fabric Depot has a wonderful physical store in Portland, OR... I was just told that in the summer they have wonderful parking lot sales daily. I had only been there in the winter.

Every time hubby & I go some where, I google quilt shops in the area, but many times, they have closed, or moved. I think this is a great idea! Now we will know who is open, hasnt moved, how the customer service is, and who has the better deals!
