Who We Are
Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties is an autonomous nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to creating solutions to poverty through workforce creation, social action and environmental stewardship.
What We Do
With 17 retail stores, a growing online store and an extensive re-use/recycling operation, we help people overcoming barriers to employment move forward on their career paths, build sustainable livelihoods, and transform their lives and communities. A mid-sized employer of around 500, we generate over 85 percent of our revenue through our businesses. Through our re-use and recycling efforts, we divert over 20,000 tons of material from landfill each year.
What We Sell
Our Goodwill receives donations of virtually every kind of item you can imagine every single day. Goods range from books, rare coins and unique collectibles to everyday clothing and house wares to computers and electronics.
What Your Purchases Do
Your purchases help create jobs and provide job training for those entering or re-entering the workforce. Our workforce development programs include retail training, a truck driving academy, and employment support for people coming out of the criminal justice system. Our goal, made possible by those who shop at and donate to Goodwill, is to enable people to develop sustainable livelihoods and transform their lives through the power of work.

Founded in 1916, and the third oldest Goodwill in the nation, Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo & Marin is affiliated with Goodwill Industries International - an international network of 207 autonomous, not-for-profit, community-based organizations that have provided services worldwide for over 100 years. Our Goodwill is nonsectarian and nonreligious.
Our Vision
Our Goodwill envisions a world free of poverty where people have the power to support themselves and their families, live in safe and thriving communities, and actively care for the environment.
