That's beautiful, looking forward to your answers about how complicated it is and whether the pattern is available without the class. Thank you for sharing.

She did not give us the full pattern. The pattern is from a book by an alaskan women and our teacher has improved on the pattern. It was not that hard but then she was a good instructor. I will e-mail her and see if I can get the name of the book it came out of. They are beautiful and I think I will add some more borders around it to make it bigger for a quilt, if I do will post a picture of it when it is done. Thanks for looking and commenting on it.

It probably was not the same person as this lady lives in Montana in the winter and Alaska in the summer.

The design is by Mary Whitehead, now deceased. There may be other places that sell it, but here's one I found. http://www.eddiesquiltingbee.com/boo...head-mary.html

edit: Some discussions of this book mention that her instructions are, shall we say, unconventional. She gives all measurements as finished sizes so you really have to pay attention.

ghostrider you are right it is Mary Whitehead and I have the name in the quilting retreat jumbo which I have not unpacked yet. Yes the lady who gave us the class said that Marys' patterns were difficult and she is trying to revise them and maybe (if it's not infringement of copyright) print a book of instructions. I will try to keep everyone updated. Billie goes to Alaska in the summer so she will be gone from Montana soon but I plan on keeping in contact with her.

    GOOD JOB ghostrider.
