that is what i was told yrsterday. the lady that checked me out said her manager told them that corporate said taking out fabric was their worse decissions they had make.

seems all our efforts with phone calls, petitions, letters etc worked. we spoke and they finally listened. we quilters are awesome

I was at our remodeled Walmart today and talked to the lady in the fabric department. She was restocking bolts on the shelf. I asked if they were getting rid of the fabric, she said no and that a lot of the Walmarts, nationwide, are putting the fabric departments back in the stores. I thought that was good news to share.

The Walmart closest to me put back the fabric dept. It's dismal! Very little choice of fabrics, not many notions, and the same old sewing notions that were there before. The other Walmart about 30 min from me has three times the fabric, all new rulers and mats, lots of quilting notions and Pacesetter thread. Patterns, trims, quilt kits, it's like a mini quilt shop. I asked the fabric manager why the difference and she said the other dept manager was mad because the fabric was back. To her it was just more work so she's not stocking it with everything and she doesn't sew so doesn't care. The shape of any Walmart fabric dept is up to that dept manager to make it great or lousy for sewers.

Isn't that the truth! I couldn't believe the price of batting the last time I checked there. Makes it real difficult for the hobby quilter to keep making quilts. Prices on so many things seem outrageous anymore because not only have prices gone up but we are getting less of the product. Example: 16 oz. size has become 14 oz. Wonder if they will somehow make a yard [36"] at 32"! We know that the sidth of some fabric is becoming less. What's a gal to do? Funny but not funny!
