I didn't even realize there was a quilt guild in town til they had a quilt show at the library yesterday. I went to see the quilts earlier in the afternoon and then went to the program they had later that night. I talked with the lady who runs the guild when I went in the afternoon and mentioned I hadn't been able to do any quilting 'cause of my sewing machine's pedal breaking (so she's gonna bring it up at their next meeting so maybe I can either get a new pedal or possibly a machine).

Anyways, I brought the Tsunami quilt design when I went to the program and showed the lady who runs the guild afterwards. She really liked it! :) She encouraged me to go to their next meeting in October.

I want to go, but I don't have anything to show except six blocks for the Tsunami quilt.

Go to the quild meeting. You will be inspired. You can show your blocks as a work in progress. Not every member brings something to show. At our meeting last night, there were about 20 people out of 155 that brought something to show. It is inspiring to see what others are doing.

By all means take what you have. I've only taken two things to share in the 2 years I've been going here. Most of the time I've already given away things I've made before the guild meeting rolls around again. I like going and seeing what everyone else is working on. You might find the guild has work nights or projects where they get together to sew. Our guild here has a work night once a month, and then one Saturday a month we get together to work on our charity project. We donate stuffed bears to the EMS/police dept. to take along and give to the children in traumatic situations.

If you say so. I'll have to find my blocks...I put them away and now I can't remember where I put them. lol. Think I should bring any designs, too?

You don't HAVE to take something to share at the meeting - HONEST! :D
But DO go, and if you want to take along some 'show & tell', go for it...that's one of my favorite parts of my guild meeting. There's always something inspiring to see or hear, every month & if you like hanging out here with us...well, they're quilters too! What's not to like? :D:D:D

From Don-isewman1. Just a quick note. GO TO THE GUILD MEETING'S. Take your few block's that you have and show them..Everyone always like to see what everyone is working on.. Make a story short, Ive been a member of my guild here in Muscatine, Ia, for 20 year's now. When I first joined, I was'nt quite into it, and then went for 2 month's, stopped going for 2 month's, and eventually went back, and have been a member ever since.. And the lady's treat me as one of the gang.. In fact, Im a member of another guild, and have been a member there 5 year's.Have seen some fantastic project's.. Go to the meeting's and ENJOY.. Take care and happy quilting... Don-- [email protected]
