    I'm curious ... how does one add a 1/2 layer of batting??

    I'm curious also, do you put the wool on the top or bottom?

    I would want the wool on the top because it helps make the quilting stand out.

    I haven't tried it yet personally, but Cindy Needham shows how you can peel the top and bottom layers of the batt apart carefully. And I would put it on the top layer next to the quilt top, for the effect as Prism99 has indicated.

    maybe if you are worried about shifting you can throw in a few pins to be on the safe side
