Thank you everybody for your advise. I am visiting my creaft teacher/friend this morning so will let you know how we go with all the above. Unable to reply yesterday as we were at our grand-daughters 3rd birthday party. Thanks again.

Justwannaquilt - go to the top of the class - you are 100% correct - it works perfectly!!!! My craft teacher did a heap of flowers with the 5 squares as you said and it worked. Thank you so much
Grammyj - your way also works but by doing it as above you get to move your flowers around before doing the final stitching. As I am one that changes their mind often in regard to sewing the 5 square way will work well for me.
WHEN I eventually get it all together I will try to post a photo. Once again - thank you all very much for taking the time to answer.

Have you tried drawing on paper, such as graph paper, first? You can easily erase, to re-work your design.
Hexagon center, 6 Hexagons Dark, 12 Light, with Green Diamonds Path.

What she is talking about is using SIX hexagons around the ONE center piece to make the flower....then adding FIVE pathways in a certain spot like the picture on the previous page shows. This makes the flowers easy to put together once they are all made!

Still stitching the 5 hexagons around my flowers, getting there slowly but surely and will definately postg a photo (if I can work out how to) when it is all together.
Justwannaquilt - how did you work it out as it had our class scratching our heads for ages.
