Becca,
Your quilt is beautiful! I like the borders you added. It looks great!
Did you hand quilt your flowers?
One of the ladies in our guild has a long arm. I am considering have her baste the quilt (every 5"). I am wondering if this would make hand quilting easier. What are your thoughts?

Becca,
Your quilt is beautiful! I understand you not wanting to keep the points. It is going to be a lot of sewing and clipping. I like the facing idea and have watched the You Tube video on how to apply facing to quilt tops with scallops.
I plan on hand quilting the top. I was wondering if I should have it machine basted 5" apart and whether this would benefit me in hand quilting. Any thoughts?

Yes, all the flowers are hand quilted around - I eventually figured out a way to quilt more in a straighter line, so it moved a bit quicker. I always baste my quilts before starting to hand-quilt them - it keeps the quilt from shifting and keeps my corners more square. It does take a bit of time, but nothing compared to all the hours quilting.
You mentioned having a long-armer baste the quilt - how easy are those stitches to take out???? I use that Sharon Schamber method of hand basting. It also uses up the skads of embroidery floss from my days of cross-stitching!! I then remove the basting stitches as i quilt an area.

If you are talking about the quilting, I had a friend who did have a LA machine and she did one that her Mother had done by stitching in the ditch. Good luck.
