I just read the thread about JoAnn's and the "poly-fil" not being batting. I have got a story that will top that one.

I am short, on the heavy side, and 100% gray hair with glasses. I went to JoAnn's looking for a specific item, since JoAnn's was re-arranging the store I had no clue where to find my item. A very sweet YOUNG clerk ( I know my underwear was older than this child!)comes up to me:

    Ma'am, may I help you?

Yes, please. I am looking for a dressmaker's ham.

Caught this clerk way off in left field. Face was totally blank. Then suddenly, I see a 25watt light bulb over the child's head, and the strangest look of pity on her face.

She leans towards me, puts a sympathetic hand upon my shoulder and says, "Oh hon, I'm so sorry, but you are not in the grocery store."

Not missing a beat my reply was, "DAMN IT! I wondered why the fresh vegatables weren't off to my right!"

I promptly left the store but could not make it to my car before I busted a gut laughing! Another lady walked up to me, she had witnessed this spectacle, patted me on the shoulder and said, "GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZ THAT WAS SO GOOD! WELL WORTH THE TRIP TODAY!"

    They walk among us.

OH MY GOSH, good one!!! You never know what will happen when you go there. Last time I went there they had a big clearance sale and I bought over 30 yards. The girl was slamming the bolts around very miffed she had to cut all those yards. Not one was under 2 yards. I know she was cutting for a while non stop, but her attitude was horrible. She proceeded to tell me how horrible it was to do that all day. Told her she could go on my unemployment and I would cut her fabric with a smile and thank people for comming. Whats up with rudness today???

That was a good one. I am sitting here laughing my head off thinking about the vegetables in the sewing store.

that's funny. I don't know what a dressmaker's ham is either, but I know it isn't one from the grocery store. I like your quick reaction.

When I was at the store the other day a young (high school age) girl asked if I wanted to use my savers card and I said yes because I really need the savings I get on gas. (our grocery store gives u so many cents off gas for each certain mark u spend on food) and she smiled and said "ya thats what all the old people say". I AM 29!!!!!! I just smiled and nodded and walked away. She was totally oblivious. Some peoples kids. My DH and Mom thought it was hilarious though...so did I after the fact LOL.
