Pricey now, but I'll bet my bottom $ the price will be falling in the next year or two. LED light is wonderful and becoming increasingly available and competitive.

Keep looking for a good deal. They're sure to appear!

The price comes to $1.77 cents a year so the price is reasonable. LED lights are not good for your eyes, they were first used for industry for control boards, panels etc. so they would last for years and not need a bulb change and not create heat. Oh did you know the regular light bulb will be banned in Jan 2012? All you can buy are the awful swirly ones. And the price will go up to $50 for a 100 watt light. DH wanted to stock up on bulbs but I told him how can we store enough light bulbs to last us? And the last for 5 or more years swirly bulbs, one brown out (power surge) and they lose a year. Brown outs happen daily in most cities. You never notice unless it's a strong one. The 12 year bulbs last us about 13 months. I put the date on all the bulb bases when I use a new one.

wait a while...I am sure this was NOT made with sewing machines in mind, so the real source of it will show up soon and everyone will flock to buy them there! These are just WAY over priced! AND when you ad something to your machine, you stand the chance of voiding the warranty!

I use a flexible-necked portable reading light - the travel kind with a clip - and attach it to my machine lid. It's great, and the light is at the perfect height for seeing what I am doing. It cost only a few dollars and can become a reading light again whenever I need one.

It's a light that can be taken off. How can you void a warranty with it?????

I bet you could get something similar at Camping World. We got some similar (ours take batteries) for our RV. Haven't replaced batteries in 3 years (AA size).

    OUch! THat's really pricey wow!
I have a desk lamp next to my machine although I have to admit that I'm not happy with it at all - it can be very blinding if you accidentally look directly at it lol.

I have to bring my torch lamp back in to my room....
