Had someone want me to give an estimate on a quilt
#1
A friend that works with dh wanted to know how much it would cost to make a king sized quilt for a friend of his that is getting married. I did the math and came up with the price of $650.
He also wanted a fancy center and I told him that would probably add more money for this quilt. It was going to be hand quilted.
Well, he said, "that is not doable". Really? I think he wanted me to drop the price to like $200! Hello?!
I explained that the fabric alone would cost a lot more than that, plus batting, thread and backing. I tried to explain to him the costs of fabric and the increase in all material. Plus, my time hand quilting it should be worth something!
Needless to say, he wants something much smaller! I really don't think I want to make anything for him. He seems to think I am over charging.
But, he is an advid hunter and thinks nothing of spending big bucks on equipment to go hunting with!
What is wrong with people?! LOL

same ole same ole. everyone including us wants everything for the lowest price we can get. think about fabrics you want and wont spend say the 8 to 10 bucks per yard but let it go on sale for 5 bucks and then you are all over it. same thing applies to quilting and selling our quilts. we want top dollar.

It's because what YOU do isn't as important as what HE does.
Since he's a hunter tell him you'd like to have a real bear skin rug. Would he please go to Canada, get a permit, kill one, have the meat processed, the head and skin made into a rug and give you a price for that. He'll start listing the costs of everything including his time off from work. Then tell him that you just want a small bear and couldn't he do it for $200?
