    I made a Halloween disappearing 9 patch, keeping the middle square of each 9 patch a solid orange and the center squares on each side the same black print. The corner squares were identical in each block, but varied from block to block (depending on how many squares I could cut out of the fabrics I had). I cut my squares 3 1/2" for the 9 patches, the finished d9p block finished about 8". I liked the look of a sort of controlled scrappy quilt, and I liked the smaller block size.
