    Default Hand painting on quilts

    Hi everyone!

I am working on applique animal quilt. I need to hand paint the facial details on the animals and question what to use to do this. Would acrylic paint work? Are there specialty fabric paints? Can someone recommend what to use?

    Thanks

    Cindy

Never painted to that degree of control but it does seem like pens would work the best for small detail. Please be sure and show us.

If you use crayons,be sure to heat set afterwards. Shiva paint sticks are supposed to work OK. Pig a pens are better for fine detail

Google watercolor pencils on fabric. Lots of tutorials. I use them for landscape wall hangings.

Thank you everyone for your input. I was told never use sharpies on a quilt as they bleed and fades with washing. I will look into the pigma pens. I think I may have one or two around here and may have used them for labeling my quilts.

    Thanks again
