I prefer to hand quilt. To me, it's the reward for doing the machine sewing! I also love needle turn applique. I've done some "quick and dirty" FMQ for some banners I made for church. I just love to quilt by hand. You are not alone!

Goodness. If if I had to wait for DH to buy me the things I wanted for quilting....... I guess I'm just not that wifey to wait or ask. LOL.
I see very few handquilted quilts in shows. More of the quilts have thread painting. They are beautiful but it shows the skill of the machine for the most part. The quilts at most local shows here, the public cant tell fused applique from invisible applique. The last few local shows, the fast fused quilts won Viewer's Choice over the hand sewn ones. I think the handquilters get discouraged and don't enter again.

I'm a hand quilter. And I enjoy it tremendously. I could hand quilt from morning till night. My needle I use is a quilting/between size 11. A little bigger than a 12. I'm hand quilting a GRG, and I'm 98%-99% done. Started hand quilting each peice last Oct. A lady friend gave me this top. Roughly 2,500-3,000 peices. I can say again I do ENJOY HAND QUILTING.

I too am a hand quilter, in the evenings sitting with DH. Right now I have two projects going one for a new grandbaby due in May, and one for DS in June. Its only mid March but feeling the "crunch". Usually everything I hand piece I hand quilt just me.

I have just started quilting............have 16 squares of a log cabin quilt done. Lots more to go but am really enjoying it. Quilting has been on my "Bucket List" for a long while but was kind of allocated to "when I retire". Well I will be 70 this year and still haven't retired (am a hairdresser and I love my clients) yet. When I get this top done I will be hand quilting it. Just love having a needle & thread in my hand!!
PS...Love this board. I have been stalking it for quite some time and have learned a lot of good hints from you.
