I don't love doing it - especially this time of year - but very much prefer the way it looks. So, aching hands or not, I'll keep doing it the way I've always done it.

I too like the way it looks. But I have really BAD carpel tunnel in my right hand and that's the hand I hold the fabric with (left handed and had my carpel tunnel done years ago on my left hand)and after about 10 minutes my hand goes numb and hurts so bad I can hardly stand it. And most of mu UFO's are unfinished because I haven't bound them. :( I sure wish I could do a sewn on binding that looked GREAT!

Have no hubby but the dog and cat love it when I sit and handstitch the binding!

I prefer hand stitched binding as well, but sometimes time does not permit. If its something special, I will make sure I do it. If its a charity quilt (especially for a child that will get a lot of use and washing), I put it on by machine because, to me, it seems sturdier.

That's just what I do. I like it that way and I like to do hand work.
Me too, I think this is the easiest way. I have just bought a binding tool - has anyone ever used one of these?
