I'm still contemplating whether I want a Brother Scan N Cut or the Cameo Shiloutte Digital that came out today. Both are just a huge investment and while they each have the ability to allow you to draw your own shape, use either computer (Cameo) or not (Brother). I guess what I really want to know is how well either one cuts fabric that has fusible on it and whether you can use your choice (i.e. Steam a Seam, Marathon light weight, etc) of fusible or it you are stuck with one type? Anyone??

My friend has the Brother but all she has made are letters to go on some banners. She doesn't use it for cutting fabric pieces, said it would take her forever to get pieces cut to make quilt blocks. She uses a Go for that.

I think both of them are so over priced for what they do. My friend likes her Brother. She has been cutting 2.5 squares and hexagons. I still want something that will cut a Jelly roll strip of fabric. If possible, I would want you to see a demo on both machines and see which one would work best for you.

I bought my Brother Scan & Cut from a local quilt shop at a quilt show. The shop offered a class on the machine and by taking the class, it open up an entire new world. I am using my machine mostly for applique. This machine will add a 1/4" to the pieces for applique, love it.
I also have the GO Machine and I find that machine wastes so much fabric, but the Brother will place the shapes to get the most from your fabric. Both machines are good for certain things.

I was considering the Brother, but opted for an Accuquilt Studio. There was a good sale. Received it yesterday.

I have the scanncut and I love it. It is great for cutting fabric and has many many quilt blocks built in. It allows you to scan your fabric and then place the size square you want anywhere on the fabric for perfect fussy cutting. I cut 20 hexies in less than a minute, and many 2" squares. Its fun and you can even draw your own art, scan it and then cut it so you can actually print your signature in fabric if you want. There are many videos on youtube. It also draws a 1/4" seam allowance on the back of the fabric if you want.

I think I saw where the scan & cut was 399.99. Well my pocket don't quite open far enough to have that kind of money. I am thankful that some of you have one.

I have the older silhouette (the SD) but I've only cut fabric with the silhouette brand interfacing on it. It worked great.

I Love my GO! for cutting jelly Rolls 3 strips per die with multiple layers.

Love my scan n cut, by the way, they do have a website that allows you to design on there and then download in the correct format. It is great at cutting fabric rather its starched, or has fusible on it. I just used the fusible on the bolt from Joann's. You don't have to have a particular brand. Lots of videos on line plus on Create TV, Its sew easy tv show has been using it alot lately too. They aren't promoting it but teachers like Crafty Gemini and Angela Wolfe use it to cut different things they normally applique using the emb machine. This feature really makes applique on the emb machine go so much faster and cleaner looking. They have two different price points, both machines do the same thing, the one that is about 100 more has so much more with it that you'd pay more than 100 to buy the added items later on. You can also scan doc, pics, etc onto your pc like a regular scanner so its not just for crafters. You can even have your kids or grandkids sign thier names and have the machine cut them out and add it to a project. It will be nice yrs later to see thier handwriting when they were small.
