thats my mantra too. I have a few template sets that I had to have, did a dozen blocks, then lost interest....but one day, I may get the urge to use again. I prefer to order precision templates from a professional source and know that if there will be any errors in the project, they will be caused by my carelessness. The steam punk set I have on order is from a reputable source, so I have no concerns about the precision cut.

I agree onebyone. Not everything has to be used over and over

I got to take a class from Jen Kingwell. I love her designs! And she's such a kind and gracious person.

She had us bring template plastic, trace the pattern onto it and cut it out. Then she gave each of us a 1/4" wheel, and we traced around the template onto the back of the fabric. It wasn't that hard to do. I'm on a budget, so making my own templates was great for me.

I do have acrylic templates made for a pattern that I sell. At first we used the local glass company, and it wasn't very accurate. Now I have them laser cut, and they are perfect -- as long as they leave the plastic on when they are cut. Otherwise they get burns on them.

Those little wheels are a great thing to use for marking. I once tried handpiecing a Joseph's coat using hand drawn templates and that wheel...worked great.........then I found the acrylic templates and directions for machine piecing, end of handpiecing!
