The block called steam punk? Saw it on Pinterest......busy, scrappy...by same designer as gypsy wife....so VERY scrappy.....just curious...if I were to attempt it, I would rather the templates were acrylic..hmmmm.

Which one are you looking at? The propeller block does have acrylic templates. Some of the gears could be made with a Dresden Plate template and an American Beauty pattern.

You may be able to have one made at a place that cuts Plexiglas. You would have to make the first template.

My sister had some made at a local glass shop and theirs were off a bit and so useless, so be aware of that possibility with a small local glass guy. They might be cheaper, but not necessarily helpful at all. Also, think about whether or not you will use them enough to invest in purchasing templates. I will often make my own out of something I have at home like a lid to a margarine tub or from a sheet of acrylic made for making templates.
Also, I want to add that I love her quilts but haven't made one yet. My closest quilt shop has had some workshops, group sewing meetings for one of her quilts and will start another one in February. The Bird quilt....don't remember the exact name of it. But, surprisingly I didn't like her first line of fabric at all. Lots of faded looking purples, etc. Odd combination of colors really. Love what she does with quilts though. Very original. Also noticed that other Australian quilters produce quite interesting, unique quilts.

This is a quilt joy stealing mindset to me. If I use them once that is reason enough to buy them.
