I haven't, but I have thought about it. I was thinking it would make a quick and easy baby quilt by making the logs 3" or 4" wide. Probably would have to pre-cut the length of the logs to avoid stretching while sewing and to keep the quilt top flat. Try using graph paper to design it.

Sorry to hear about your leg.

Interesting idea, but it sounds expensive and very awkward (and stretchy) to make what with long strips of many multiples of fabric.

How about this idea. Find a block you especially like that is made up entirely of half square triangles. Now, blow it up to quilt size and replace each HST with a log cabin block. This is what Ocean Waves looks like, for instance.

It's still a quilt with a single block as the design, and log cabins as the unit...and no hassle matching points! Just thought I'd throw it out there for you to think about. I love log cabin blocks.

I made one like that for my sister. Just start with the center as usual and grow it until it is as big as you like. She loves it.

No, I have made a log cabin the usual way, squares of them sewn together to make a full/queen size and another variation.

I made a baby quilt that way using all different polka dot fabrics and minkee backing. You can see them on allpeoplequilt.com.

Thanks for all your comments! I hadn't thought about how unwieldy it might become as I add strips. I think I'll take ghostrider's advice and do an Ocean Waves! Seems easier.

Oh my, hope that you heal up quickly. I have made several log cabins quilts, from twin size to queen size but I went with Eleanor Burns Log Cabin book. Very easy and they both came out great. Love the Log Cabin Quilts... Good luck.
