Yes. It is easy to work with. And fast. Doesn't knot up as much. I don't have a quilt frame (and my mom had two quilts she was working on. One on the frame and the next one ready.)
So I safety pinned the two quilts I had and tied them with the crochet cotton. And a long needle. Used a "Blind Tie" and stitched them up. It was fast, fun and I felt like I had accomplished a very large task.

Yes and it works well. Just make three knots and they shouldn't come undone. I've also used embroidery floss, yarn, and even the string that feed sacks were sewn with (back when as a child I helped grandma tie quilts).

I made 10 comforters one year for Christmas and used crochet thread for all of them. I have made a few more since then and all of them is still holding. Would last much longer than yarn. Yarn is too fuzzy, as some others have said.
