I haven't made one but just a little food for thought - no matter what you would want the lights "removable" in case they ever need to be replaced. Take it from a doll house wanta be, it is easier to remove them if they are not buried too much, lol.

Thanks everyone for you help, links and the pictures. I see where they didn't leave any room outside of the snowflakes.
I am a real visual learner so you have helped me out a lot. I appreciate it!

There was an extended conversation on one of my Yahoo groups about this panel kit. The wires behind the panel don't lay flat causing issues. The lights sticking thru the holes aren't consistent. Pics were posted of the ones using the light kit. The moderator of the group posted pics using the crystals. Beautiful!! The general consensus was to use crystals instead.

I have made two! I like the effects when it is done. After it was quilted I made eyelet buttonholes where I wanted to put the lights. I then made a pocket on the back to fit the battery pack. Yes, there are wires on the back but if it is hanging on the wall, you won't see the wires!! It didn't take long to make but I didn't like the technique used to make the star points but it worked. Have fun with it....great results when you are done!

Superior Threads makes a conductive thread connected to flat batteries and used for the lights in this quilt. Everything is flat on the back. No bulky battery box. See their site for a video.

This is the way I did mine, I made four of these in red, green and blue. I birthed mine.
Instead of quilting it I embroidered metallic gold thread stars after it was birthed...

I bought one from Thousands of Bolts and they included instructions on how to make the hanging. I think you put it together first and when it's together, then you put in the lights.

I have the same panel. Won't get around to doing anything with it for this Christmas, though. (I try to make my Christmas stuff in the summer). I have a friend who did the same thing Daffy did. She used a buttonhole stitch to reinforce the openings for the light and put a pocket on the back near a bottom corner for the battery pack. She also put a pocket along the top to hang it. It turned out very nice! I will do the same when I do mine.
