Has anyone made these quilted christmas trees?

This is my guess as well. Ornament Girl has a whole line of Christmas and other holiday (Easter etc) ornaments that are made with the folded square method and pined on to a form.

I have made several of these and you don't really need a pattern unless you want it to look like hers. All you do is buy a Styrofoam cone shape and cut small squares and use applique pins to pin it to the Styrofoam. I think the squares are 2 or 2 1/2". If you have ever made the potholders or hot mats or the hanging "pinecones" it's the same application. Google for free directions and you can see how easy it is.

You don't have to buy the pattern, here is a youtube on the pinecones, the trees are easier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl-AKWkqw7A

i have made the baubles a few years ago and the way i see it you buy a styrene foam tree shape and using thin narrow pins you put the prairie points in a row starting at the bottom and working your way up the cone, sooo simple,
Good luck to those who make it, am going to make some for the family this year,
