OK, so it's not that I'm just a weakling. I get terribly sore from FMQ'ing! But I refuse to give up! Maybe some day I'll build up some stamina...

I have some good wine, and since I'm in CA I have way more sun than I want right now. Someone bring me some rain and I'll share my wine and sunshine!

What patterns have you used and can you post some pictures? I want to try a QAYG.

I agree that I admire DSM FMQ. I have had several quilt teachers for FMQ (Diane Gudyanski, Sue Rasmussen, and Elizabeth Spannring) that work on DSMs. They make beautiful quilts, but I am so thankful that I could get a LA. I tend to make larger quilts (queen, king) and it is much easier on a LA. I would still consider doing some smaller pieces on my Janome, but not a big quilt if I can help it.

Well ladies. I quilt on both but time myself in 20 mins section swoping as I go. Ten minutes for a drink, chocolate, biscuits, wine. Oh must remember out to mid day meal, saves cooking.

If I give up wine no fun.

nvb50, that is what I am going to be studying next is how to QAYG on my DM, wish me luck as I am praying for guidance as well as the patience and know how to do this so I can FMQ on my old DMS

That is the part I hate the most because my machine only has a 7.5" harp. I would love to have a LA but not enough funds yet, ah well as Ned Kelly said on the gallows "such is life"

I have a short arm on a frame. It's easier than using my dam, but frustrating because I can't always do what I want. No money to send my quilts out though.

I have been free motion quilting on my Juki TL98E and now TL98Q, since 1998. I have a big island in my kitchen now, which makes layering and pinning a breeze, and I find it very relaxing to free motion quilt. I will piece three or four things, and then clear the island and sandwich all of them, and then sit and free motion quilt for a couple of days. I love it and look forward to doing it!

FMQ on up to lap size. Send out bed size to long armer who is very reasonable. She charges the same price for all sizes because she says its the loading on the long arm that is the hard part.
Bought a long arm table but cant afford the machine so it sits there with a 9 in throat machine on it. Only done a little with it and it is a pain. No more till I can afford at least and 18 in throat.
