I take mine out to relax the fibers, spread it out on the quilting frame for a day or two. helps get rid of the wrinkles.

I will leave it out and let it air out and let the wrinkles relax a few days before I use it. Some people place it in the dryer. I find that draping it over my dining room table is good enough.

I leave it in the pkg. that way I know the measurements and recommended quilting distance. Throw it in the dryer about 10 minutes before using to get the hard creases out before basting

    Happy New Year, Don!
I keep mine in the package until I'm ready to use it. Then I let it relax a bit.

I keep mine in the package and then yes, I air fluff in the dryer to get folds and creases out. If the batting is really crunkled up I run a towel through the wash and then put it in with the batting on low and watch it carefully. I typically use poly batts and you have to really watch even low heat. With something like warm and natural it's a little easier to do low heat.

I keep mine in the package so I don't mess it up before I am ready to use it. I do measure my finished top to be sure package batting is large enough or not to large were I would have a lot to cut away a bunch. I prefer to buy my batting by the bolt. Once a year I usually buy 2 bolts of the same wt poly bat and a single bolt of W&N.

Isewman, I envy you.... I’m running around getting ready for guests to arrive for New Year’s Day dinner!

I’ll be sewing tomorrow for sure.

Good luck with your quilt and Happy New Year !

I like to get my backing arranged on my tables and fastened down for basting and then place the batting lightly on top; I do this usually the day before I'm planning to pin baste. That being said, I have been known to press a cotton batting because I just didn't think it was flat enough.

I take it out of the bag and lay it out on my cutting table, with the hopes of the wrinkles coming out, but really hasn't worked for the package batting that I've gotten at JoAnn's.
