My rooms are all small even though we have a good sized house. I have basted several ways. I have used big tables at my church. At home I have done it on the living room floor by just stretching and laying out half of it at a time. Since my knees won't let me do the floor thing any more, I have used my dining room table. I put all the leaves in and layout and baste one section at a time, usually in fourths. It takes a little maneuvering but it can be done.

When I had a much smaller space I used my ironing board at the back of my sewing machine and then a chair, so that the weight of the quilt wouldn't distort the quilt or make the work harder for me.

I used tables at church or at a LQS to layer the quilt and pin it.
