I have had good luck with my Janome rippers, one from each machine. Also have a larger blue handled one that works very nicely too.

I broke the handle off a couple of seam rippers but have never broken the tip.

My daughter was using her seam ripper to open a buttonhole and the tip snapped off. We only use the Clover seam rippers with the round white handle. Her fabric was a twill, she thinks it was a bit much for the ripper.

Oh yes, I have broken a few, but more aggravating, I have lost more. Is there a seam ripper gnome?

I go through seam rippers like I go through my can openers, very quickly.
