Spoonflower recommends that one washes the fabric first. I do that and then hot dry it to set the image. Haven't had any problem with the image fading so far (3 years).
Responding to tropit - I did not design the bunny image. Spoonflower has a great search engine - just type in what you want, i.e., cats, flowers, dots, squares, science, etc. and hundreds of possibilities come up. You can choose what type of fabric you want the image printed on. I recommend them highly.

Before Nightmare Before Christmas fabric was available I ordered some from Spoonflower. They had several patterns to chose from. It was great to work with and their service was fantastic. When I cannot find what I want I try them.

I also printed on fabric and the fabrics I used didn't have polyester it was all cotton. I have no way of knowing how well it lasted as the person I made the memory quilt for passed away. It wasn't difficult to quilt through either.

I've never done the inkjet printing to create a fabric design only to reproduce a specific pic for a quilt, but I have stamped fabrics for use in quilts with mixed results. Be sure to have the ink that is for fabrics and permanent or it will wash out.

I think that what I was doing was different than the printable fabric sheets. I was using the sublimation process where you print on a special paper, then use a T shirt press to heat transfer it on to the fabric. For subing, the fabric definitely has to be part poly.

My husband designed some fabric and we bought it from Spoonflower. A little pricey but it was good quality and perfect for the bags I made.

I know exactly what you mean, I bump into that issue all the time! For me it's the fact that I generally envision a pretty floral that suites my quilt, but no company has made it yet! I often end up buying a substitute fabric that "will do".

I just placed my first order with Spoonflower. I used a photo I took while in Italy. We will have to see how it turns out. It should arrive in a couple weeks.

I have to do an architecture art project based one of the buildings we visited on the field school. I used a photo I took of the ceiling/roof beams inside of San Marco Convent. I will see how it turns out. I plan to do a art quilt for my project. I bought 3 metres of beautiful wool fabrics to use with the fabric print.

I have a whole new stack of personal design fabrics from spoonflower. The fabrics are wonderful and the prints came out so vibrant. I can't wait to create a quilt with them

They are really nice to quilt with. Just like using good quality quilting cotton. I'm getting ready to start another collaborative piece that began as a digital collage and was sent to Spoonflower for printing.
