Dyed....and gone to heaven?! :O) Ok, sorry....sometimes these titles crack me up.

Yes, I've died fabric. My husband has black jeans that fade....I use the RIT liquid dye on them....I've also died denim skirts to make them live longer, again with the RIT liquid dye. Make sure it is rinsed WELL and use BLEACH in your machine for a couple of loads AFTER you use dye otherwise your clothes might have a slight color case of your dye.

I tried dying some fabric once and it never made it out smooth....it looked wrinkly and tie-died....a look I didn't want.

Be sure to use gloves...my hands were blue & green for a few days. Also, make sure your cloth is completely submerged. If you can, use a washing machine, but many use buckets and have great success....I am sure you will have more success than I had....

I'm taking a batik painting class at our local college, signing up tomorrow, starts in October. I've also been looking at this site about HOW to hand dye with the good dyes, and her recipes for colours.

    http://fabricdyeing101.blogspot.com/...roduction.html

She buys her dyes out of Toronto (and they're on sale this week), the link is here. They can be purchased online. I'll be getting the Procion MX (powder) dyes.

Will let you know how I do with the dyes, and the batik painting course.

I bought some dyes and other solutions that you need from Dick Blick(in Michigan)

I also bought some fabric from Dharma that is specifically for hand dying.

I was going to try the baggie method, or there is one that I found that you can use 16 oz plastic glasses.

I just haven't gotten brave enough I guess.

I did the day I said "I do"

Hmmm.......okay bad pun but to answer the question yes I have. I did Tie Dye back in high school for a project. It turned out really neat and I had a lot of the teachers wanting me to do it for them for fabric for their projects. The fun part was getting the wax out of the material after I was done.
