Sloan, looks like a great background for lighthouse sillouette Sp? piece. Maybe some tree skeletons on the edge. Have fun with it.

Me too ... LOL The first bed quilt I ever made was a queen sz sampler, all in country blue & mauve .... circa 1987 ... loved the blocks but can't stand those colors now. If blue & mauve EVER come back in vogue, maybe someone in the family will want it !

Sometimes I make small lap quilts out of the ugly stuff for charity. In the end they are beautiful to the receiver. Once a year I sort and sort and put in someones yard sale and therefore it ends up in someone elses stash.

I have a older friend who wanted me to quilt three quilts for her, paying me in fabrics from her stash. As I have known this woman for fifty plus years, babysat for the oldest of her eleven children and have finished numerous quilts for her - how was I going to say no? So now I have a large quanity of old fashioned fabric that will be used for scrap quilts for a long time in the future. Welcome to my stash!!

Do you have a friend who quilts? If you do, maybe you and she can do a fabric swap. That's what I and one of my friends do. If I only have 3 blues and need 5 and she has too many purples but need some blues, then we have a fabric swap. I make a cake and a pot of coffee, and she comes to my house bringing the fabric she doesn't like or has too much of. We have a great time having cake, coffee, and getting different fabric without spending money.

I don't care for yellow so I have very little yellow fabrics.

Purple is my favorite color. I cannot get enough of purple fabric or purple in my wardrobe. It has such a pleasing effect on me. That being siad, I don't dislike any color. There are a few I don't use often--tan, black.

I wouldn't say that I dislike any colors, but I would say I'm often drawn to bright colors in fun combinations. I am not drawn to muted, country or earth tones. I like them, in some things, and I see them in other quilts and think they are nice, but I am not motivated to own them or make quilts from them :)
