I'm working (still in design and fabric choice stage) on a series that are mid-60's songs with color titles...Black is Black (1966), Blue on Blue (1964), Mellow Yellow (1966), Purple Haze (1967), Red Rubber Ball (1966), A Whiter Shade of Pale (1967), and Green Tambourine (1967). Orange has me stumped, but I'm still digging. They'll each be monochromatic batiks.
Orange Blossom Special was my first thought. Good idea to mix the songs and the colors. I like that.

I haven't been Sue Nickels and her sister Pat Holly made the Beatles quilt that won best of show in Houston one year and on the back they wrote the lyrics to all of the songs that were represented.

We have a challenge quilt each year for our guild, last year it was a song. . . the winner was Gone with the Wind, complete with the green velvet drapes! This year it is a play on words. . . can' wait to see what people come up with.

For any who are wondering...song titles are NOT protected by copyright (the music and lyrics are, however). Song titles MAY have trademark protection but usually don't and, if they do, trademark would protect only against using that title as the title of another song or something that could be mistaken as being promoted by the trademark holder (like a college fight song title). Little chance that a quilt could be mistaken for a song...even though I've had many a quilt sing to me.

I did a family blessing quilt, based on the song "His Eye is on the Sparrow". On one side I embroidered the words to the song, and on the other the names of all our family members. It was created as a gift for my parents.
